What's so appealing about Fernandina?

Exciting history, vibrant culture, beautiful scenery

Amelia Island, the first barrier island south of the Georgia border, is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. It is 13.5 miles long and 2 miles wide at its widest point. The island enjoys the same protection from severe weather as other parts of Northeast Florida and boasts a long and exciting history dating back to the 1500s. The island is No. 5 on Conde Nast Traveler's 2007 Reader's Choice Awards Top 10 North American islands
